Toddler Survives Fall out San Jose Window

A three year old boy sustained a head injury in a fall from a second story apartment window in northeast San Jose last night.

San Jose Police spokesman Jose Garcia says the child and his five year old cousin were playing around in a bedroom when the smaller child fell against a window that was just two feet above the floor.

"I'm not sure if the window broke, or it popped off the window frame, but the child ended up falling through the window, approximately 11 and a half feet down to the concrete," said Garcia.

The boy is expected to survive.

No criminal charges will be filed. Garcia says it was clearly an accident, and the child's parents were in the next room.

Garcia says the accident should serve as a reminder to parents to make sure windows accessible to children are child-proofed.
