Disappointment Over Mehserle Verdict Resounds
OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS)- Protestors and Oscar Grant's family and friends aren't the only ones who think the jury's involuntary manslaughter conviction was the wrong one.
Oakland officials are critical of the verdict too.
Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley says this is not the verdict she wanted and that Johannes Mehserle will go to prison and will pay for the killing of Oscar Grant.

"We are disappointed and frustrated by the verdict and it's not the verdict we sought," said O'Malley.
The District Attorney said under the law, former officer Mehserle must be sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 14 because of the gun enhancement conviction.
Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums does not believe justice was done, but hopes this will all produce meaningful dialogue.
"To find a way to seek the best in ourselves, to rise to the highest in ourselves and show this nation that Oakland can respond to adversity in a manner that reflects the greatest in the human spirit." exclaimed Dellums.
Mehserle will be sentenced August 6th.
