Mobile Ticketing Takes Off in San Jose

Mineta San Jose International joins a growing list of airports where you don't need a printed boarding pass to get on a flight, as mobile ticketing is starting to take off.

"You can download your e-ticket onto your mobile device, your phone or PDA, and you can swipe it at the TSA security checkpoint, and then you can swipe it over the boarding pass at the gate," said airport spokesman Dave Vossbrink. "We've got the equipment installed and right now we've got two airlines that are doing some pilot use of the system, United Airlines and American Airlines."

Business traveler Dalbir Hundal, who was catching a flight to Denver, loved the idea.

"Everybody has a phone now, so they can put their ticket on their phone and skip the lines," said Hundal.

Mobile ticketing is available at all three Bay Area airports, depending on your carrier.
