SF Leaders Want to Ban Plastic Water Bottles at City Events
Sales of bottled water could soon be a thing of the past in San Francisco-sponsored events, if some city officials have their way. A statement from the city outlined the specifics of the water bottle ban that includes street festivals, concerts, parades and park events where water in plastic bottles would not be sold as part of the city's zero-waste campaign.
The city of San Francisco has already eliminated the use of bottled water at all of their city meetings, citing environmental concerns.
San Francisco's Environment Commission hasn't said what event or study inspired the ban, but it does say the issue was raised by the city to combat the large amount of water bottles in the city's dumps.
The push for the ban is part of the ongoing effort to clean up the city.
