Amtrak Service Back Online After Derailment
Amtrak service was back to normal Wednesday morning after several cars of a freight train derailed on the Union Pacific tracks between Oakland and Emeryville Tuesday afternoon.
The freight train derailed just before 4:30 p.m. at 34th Street in Oakland, about a mile west of the Emeryville Amtrak station.
Train service between the Emeryville and Oakland-Jack London Square stations was suspended in both directions as a result.
Crews worked overnight to right and remove four cars that derailed, and check that the tracks were okay. Amtrak passengers experienced major delays Tuesday evening as a result.
