Economic Incentives for Going Solar

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) _ Going solar may not be as expensive as some Bay Area residents think.

Dave Llorens, CEO of San Francisco's One Block Off the Grid said residents can now take advantage of some economic incentives to go solar.

"The obvious one is that it decreases your electricity bill," said Llorens. "It offsets your electricity costs for the year. And it helps the environment."

Llorens said that a combination of economic incentives currently available could make solar panels less expensive or even free for those who qualify.

"The low income incentive is a very large incentive you would get if your household income is either $60,000 or up to $116,000 depending on how many people live in the home," said Llorens.

Llorens said his organization concentrates on educating homeowners and group purchasing programs for solar in larger cities.
