21-Year-Old Cyclist Killed in SF Hit and Run

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in San Francisco Friday night near the intersection of Masonic and Turk in a hit and run.

Police say that the collision was between the bicyclist and a 1989 Mercedes at about 10:40 p.m. just north of the Panhandle.

The San Francisco Examiner reports both the bicyclist and car were traveling southbound on Masonic Avenue when the car hit the biker, near Turk Street.

The bicyclist is described as a 21-year-old white male, whose name has not been released.

The driver, described as a 38-year-old man, left the scene but was arrested about two blocks away.

Officers were in the area, and did not witness the accident, but quickly arrested the suspect who was booked on charges of vehicular manslaughter.

The suspect's name has yet to be released.
