Bridge Board Picks New Head
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ The Golden Gate Bridge Board has picked a new person to head the bridge, bus and ferry operations.
Before coming to the Golden Gate Bridge District in 2001 to become chief engineer, Dennis Mulligan worked for Caltrans for 19 years.
He replaces Celia Coopersmith who is headed for a Seattle transit agency after running the bridge district for 11 years.
Although Mulligan says there are no toll increases contemplated for the immediate future, finances will continue to be a top priority.

"My issues are a big deal. We were receiving transit operating subsidies from the state, that have greatly declined so that creates a hole and like all public agencies we're struggling to deal with that by reducing costs and to try to maintain the high level of service that we've historically provided," says Mulligan.
Mulligan takes over September 1st. The Board still has to work out a salary structure with him.
