Police and drug agents busted several large marijuana growing operations on the flanks of Mt. Tamalpias in Marin County Wednesday.
Marin County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Debra Barry says the grow operations were near Bon Tempe and Kent lakes west of Fairfax.
“The people who are responsible for these illegal operations have no regard for public safety, nor do they have any concern for the damage created by their grow site,” said Barry.
She says no one was arrested, but law enforcement wanted to eliminate the gardens before any encounters between armed growers and the public.
She says the illicit growers damage fragile habitats, spread pollution and leave garbage strewn in the wildlands.
