SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ Dreams were both made and broken at AT&T Park in San Francisco when thousands of people turned out for Thursday’s American Idol auditions.

With upwards of 10,000 people trying out, there were bound to be some who simply didn’t make the grade.

“I did my best. I thought I sang awesome, but they just said no,” said a thwarted contestant wanna-be.

However, there were others who emerged from AT&T with smiles on their faces, like Chrisol from Chino.

“I drove for seven hours, but it all went by so quick because I was pretty excited.” Christol added that it was definitely worth it.

All were there for a shot at the big time a very small shot, according to Idol Host, Ryan Seacrest.

They are seen by producers they get a few seconds to make a first and lasting impression.

Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe says San Francisco is truly a unique place for talent and always has something to offer the world of entertainment.

“Don’t forget that this is where we found Adam Lambert and it’s also the place where we found William Hung, so we’re not sure what we’re going to find today,” says Lythgoe.

Lythgo even addressed the judging void on the show. With forever cranky Simon Cowell moving on, he says they’ll deal with it soon, but something like this shouldn’t take away from the real talent, the young people who audition and ultimately make it to Hollywood for American Idol’s 10th season.
