LOS ANGELES (AP) _ California health officials are warning consumers to avoid an imported grape candy because it contains high lead levels.

The Department of Public Health says Cocon Grape Gummy 100 percent candy was found to contain up to .19 parts per million of lead _ nearly twice the state’s limit.

The candy was manufactured in Malaysia and distributed by U-Can Food Trading, a Los Angeles company that’s begun a voluntarily recall.

Consumers who bought the candy are being urged to throw it away.

Health department spokesman Al Lundeen says no illnesses have been reported. However, children and pregnant women who ate the candy are being urged to consult doctors to determine if they should be tested.
