More People Plan to Head Out of Town for Labor Day

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) - The getaway rush for the holiday weekend is on.

AAA is forecasting an 11% increase in travel this Labor Day weekend.

"I'm heading down to San Diego for a couple of days," declared one Bay Area man. "Going to a wedding, so we're flying down."

"My husband windsurfs and I'm going to catch some sun, the beautiful beaches, do some snorkeling," another woman explained the details of her trip to Hawaii. "Just relax and have a good time.

However, staying home is the best vacation plan for others. "Because I travel for a living and so when I have time off actually the last thing I want to do is get on a place," reasoned one man. "A vacation for me is not going anywhere because work, to me, means I am getting on a plane and going to other countries.

Law enforcement agencies around the Bay Area will be targeting unsafe and impaired drivers, with increased sobriety checkpoints.
