Police found no major clues Sunday in their search of a Pittsburg landfill for the body of a missing man linked to a multiple murder investigation, a Hercules police spokeswoman said.

Officers and volunteers searched for the missing Frederick Sales on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Keller Canyon landfill, which is at 901 Bailey Road.

They may not finish sifting through trash until Wednesday, Hercules police spokeswoman Doreen Mathews said.

Police took their investigation to the landfill after finding a white Cadillac Escalade on Sept. 1 that was driven by a now-deceased suspect who may be responsible for the disappearance of the 35-year-old Sales.

The Cadillac was found at Northshore Business Park on Alfred Nobel Drive in Hercules, Hercules police spokeswoman Michelle Harrington said.

Sales’ father, 73-year-old Ricardo Sales, was found dead Aug. 28 in the master bedroom of the Crepe Myrtle Drive home where the father and son lived.

Police believe the elder Sales was murdered by Efren Valdemoro, 38, who was fatally shot in Richmond on Aug. 31 after trying to evade California Highway Patrol officers.

Authorities have linked Sales to three other murder victims – two women whose decomposed bodies were found at a Vallejo home, and Valdemoro’s girlfriend, 46-year-old Cindy Tran, who was found dead in Valdemoro’s car at the time he was shot by CHP officers.

Police and volunteers to continued their search for Frederick Sales at the Keller Canyon landfill until 7 p.m. Saturday, which was two additional hours past the original end time of 5 p.m.

“They have been determined,” police spokeswoman Mathews said.

The search ended at 5 p.m. Sunday, and will resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Mathews added.
