MONTEREY (BCN) – The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 struck Friday morning in Monterey County.

According to the USGS, at 7:26 a.m. the quake shook an area 25 miles southwest of Soledad near the coast by John Little State Park.

The temblor, which had a depth of 6.5 miles, had an epicenter just east of state Highway 1, according to the USGS.

Along that coastal region, the nearby San Gregorio Fault runs off-shore from an area just north of Point Sur until it runs aground again near San Simeon.

ER

2.8 quake?? From the headline, I expected a 4 or 5. A 2.8 is usually barely felt.
