2 Oakland Gang Suspects Arrested

OAKLAND (AP) - Oakland police have arrested two suspected gang members on suspicion of shooting at rivals and leading officers on a high-speed car chase.

Investigators said Sunday that the two suspected East Oakland gang members, ages 17 and 20, both have prior convictions for assault with a firearm.

Sgt. Randy Wingate says the first shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, and the second shooting occurred while officers were at the scene of the first shooting.

Police say no one was wounded in either of the shootings and the suspects suffered only minor injuries after crashing their car.

Officers say at least two other vehicles were struck during the chase, but no one was apparently hurt.
