Fiorina Courting Asian Voters With Small Business Promises
SACRAMENTO (AP) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina is making an appeal to Asian-American voters by emphasizing her desire to help owners of small businesses.
Fiorina spoke to a crowd of about 400 during a voter-education forum hosted by the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association. The event was held Sunday at California State University, Sacramento.
The former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO says her opponent in the November election, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, supports policies that have stifled private-sector job growth.
A spokeswoman for Boxer's campaign noted that Fiorina opposes a bill designed to assist small businesses and give them greater access to credit.
Two recent polls show Boxer with slight leads over Fiorina, who told reporters after her speech that she remains confident in her message.
