Sarah Palin Booed On "DWTS"?

NEW YORK (CBS) - Was Sarah Palin booed on "Dancing with the Stars"?

ABC says no, explaining that the booing TV audiences clearly heard off camera was meant for the scores - 24 our of a possible 30 - given to actress Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough.

The booing came as co-host Brooke Burke was interviewing Grey and Hough as they got their scores.

Why is there booing?" asked Grey, who received the highest score of the night for her jive.

"There's booing in the ballroom -- we don't know why," Brooke told the audience and then tossed to her co-host Tom Bergeron, who was seated in the audience with Palin. He made no mention of the booing and proceeded to interview Palin, whose daughter Bristol is one of the "Dancing with the Stars" competitors.

Many viewers turned to Twitter to talk about what they saw as a hostile reception for Palin, known for her polarizing politics. But an ABC spokesman told the Los Angeles Times that audience members were unhappy with Grey's score.

"They were just expressing their feelings about a really, really good dance," the newspaper quoted the network spokeswoman as saying. "It's not at all unusual."
