VALLEJO (BCN) – The hunt for a man suspected of fatally shooting a young woman in Vallejo Wednesday night and fleeing the scene with his 4-year-old daughter was called off Thursday evening after the man turned himself in, police said.

Jonas Peacock, 28, was arrested on a warrant in connection with the homicide after he turned himself in at the Vallejo Police Department at about 5:45 p.m.

Wednesday night, officers found 22-year-old Ashley Manigault dead of a gunshot wound to the head in a home in the first block of Ninth Street, police said.

Occupants of the home were questioned and police identified Peacock as a suspect, Lt. Ken Weaver said Thursday.

Peacock fled the scene with his daughter, Nyary Peacock, who was located by police Thursday unharmed and is staying with family members in Vallejo, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Vallejo police detectives Matt Mustard or Ted Postolaki at (800) 488-9383.

The shooting is the city’s 14th homicide this year.

I cannot believe you let john kessler go….he and sidney were the reason to watch your moring news….bad move…i will be switching to another station for my moring news

You moved Juliette Goodrich into John Kessler’s spot. Bad move. I will be moving to another station.

John Kessler was the reason I watched CBC 5 . I think it is an amateur move on your part you will loose many of your viewers due to that. Plus all female cast not usually a successful formula nothing to under mind your current cast but John is a great anchor news man. You lost John and me I know a few of my friends will too.

  • Vickie and Francine

I am shocked that John Kessler is no longer on your station. CBS 5 in the morning was full of news and light hearted banter. It was always sassy and funny. It made you smile when nothing but negativity is being broadcast.
What happened? Are you going to have the courtesy to tell your viewers what happened? We are not children and can handle the truth. Your ignoring all of the questions by your viewers does not show well for you and your executive staff.
I too will be watching another station. The pickings are slim in the morning but not to fear, you can and will be replaced. Shame on you for your lack of respect for your viewers.

I am also dissapointed that you are leaving us in the dark as to where is John Kessler. Poor Sidney is doing her best and the wear and tear shows. WHERE IS JOHN KESSLER!?

Whoever the new guy is, he is not a good fit to replace Julliette Goodrich. As for Sydney Kohara, she seems to carrying the load. Also, I hope you are building a new set; the current one is pretty uninteresting.
