Santa Clara VTA Adds Commuter Express Line, Free Wi-Fi

SAN JOSE - (CBS/BCN) - The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is making improvements to its light rail service starting Monday when customers will be able to use a new Commuter Express line and free Wi-Fi.

The Commuter Express line runs from south San Jose through downtown up to the northern part of the city, according to VTA officials.

Three northbound express trains will leave the Santa Teresa Station each weekday at 7:16 a.m., 7:46 a.m. and 8:16 a.m. Three southbound express trains will leave the Baypointe Station at 4:07 p.m., 4:37 p.m. and 5:07 p.m.

The trains will make all stops between Santa Teresa and Ohlone/Chynoweth, then operate non-stop to the Convention Center. From there, trains will make all stops until reaching the Baypointe station.

Commuters on the express trains will be able to access free Wi-Fi while on board. Trains with wireless Internet capability are marked with a "WiFi On Board" sticker.
