Half A Dozen Novato Youngsters Hurt On New School Playground

NOVATO (KCBS) - Six kids have been hurt using the new playground equipment at two Novato schools, prompting district officials to order adjustments be made.

Leslie Benjamin, spokeswoman for the school district, says some of the monkey bars will be lowered, and school staff will undergo safety training.

"You know the equipment is so new, and the kids are all probably really excited about being on the play equipment, they'll probably not let as many children on at first so that there aren't too many kids on there," said Benjamin.

The injuries, which included broken arms, occurred at Lynwood Elementary and Hamilton Meadow Park schools. The equipment was put in over the summer.
