San Francisco Power Outage Causes Major Muni Metro Delays

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A brief power outage in San Francisco Municipal Railway's central control system Thursday caused major delays to the Muni Metro service, a spokesman said.

The outage was reported at 11:56 a.m. and power was restored around noon, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.

However, the outage caused extensive residual delays in the downtown subway and forced Muni to provide supplemental service via bus shuttles that are taking customers between the Embarcadero and West Portal stations, Rose said.

As of 2:30 p.m., trains continued to go slowly through the subway, and the bus shuttles were still in place, he said.

The cause of the outage was under investigation, he said.
