Courteney Cox & David Arquette Split

LOS ANGELES (CBS) - Entertainment Tonight confirms that after 11 years of marriage, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have separated.

Courteney and David released the following statement to ET on Monday: "We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go through this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together. We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well."

David and Courteney are parents to a 6-year-old daughter, Coco Riley Arquette.

This past July, while on the set Wes Craven's highly anticipated sequel 'Scream 4,' Courteney gushed to ET about their first meeting. "I can remember the day I met him like it was yesterday," said Courteney, who credited Wes as "really instrumental" in bringing them together. "'Scream' 1 was really an intense crush and all that stuff, and 'Scream 2' we didn't get along so well, and then 'Scream 3' we had just gotten married, and then 'Scream 4' we have [our six-year-old daughter] Coco, so it's just been an evolution of things that have happened to us."

Courteney and David wed on June 12, 1999.
