Schwarzenegger Addresses Whitman "Whore" Slur On Twitter

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was in London, visiting Britain's new prime minister, but he has been weighing in on the California governor's race via Twitter.

In response to direct questions from two of his Twitter followers, the governor offered his first public comment on the voicemail recording in which a member of Jerry Brown's campaign staff is overheard referring to Meg Whitman as a "whore."

First, the governor was asked "what do you think about Meg selling her vote to the police union?" It was in reference to Brown's allegation that Whitman cut a deal to protect the pensions of Los Angeles Police Officers in return for their endorsement.

The governor responded: "It's appalling when anyone sells out."

Then another follower asked the governor what he thought of the use of the word "whore." Schwarzenegger tweeted back: "that word is unacceptable."

When another follower asked Schwarzenegger, if selling out is appalling, how does he explain making the movie "Junior," a 1994 comedy in which the future governor played a pregnant man, Schwarzenegger replied "Now that's funny!"

Schwarzenegger has endorsed neither Whitman nor Brown to succeed him.

KCBS reporter Doug Sovern was re-tweeting the entire exchange as it happened Thursday morning, you can follow him on Twitter: www.twitter.com/sovernnation.
