Sunnyvale Police Arrest Flashing Suspect

SUNNYVALE (BCN) - A man suspected of flashing his genitals at women in Sunnyvale was arrested Wednesday and booked into Santa Clara County jail, police said.

Sunnyvale police detectives arrested 18-year-old Christopher Lockhart after one female victim identified Lockhart as her attacker from a photo lineup, according to police.

Lockhart is suspected of dropping his shorts and exposing himself to two women on two separate occasions in Sunnyvale since September.

The most recent sexual assault occurred about 9 a.m. Wednesday on Dunholme Way, where a woman who had just finished a jog was opening her car door and saw Lockhart running toward her. When he was a few feet from the woman, he allegedly pulled down his shorts, exposed himself, and called out to her.

The victim ran away, but Lockhart gave chase for a short distance before he changed direction and disappeared, police said.

Using a sketch generated by a sketch artist with the victim's assistance, investigators conducted interviews of witnesses and nearby residents and began searching for Lockhart.

The suspect was found hiding in a closet at his father's Sunnyvale home and was placed under arrest.

In September, another sexual assault occurred in the same area.

Detectives have since identified Lockhart as the suspect in that assault after referring to a similar sketch developed with the victim's help, police said.
