Good Question: Are Absentee Ballots Counted First?

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) –- Whether you vote in person or by mail, your vote is counted the same, not only in a philosophical "every vote counts" way. Erin in San Francisco asked this Good Question: Are absentee ballots counted first, or only when the election is close?

ANSWER: According to San Francisco Director of Elections John Arntz, all verified absentee ballots are processed and counted as soon as they arrive at the Registrar's office. But these votes are not tabulated until the polls close on election night.
