Elderly Woman's Dog, Purse Snatched On Alameda Street

ALAMEDA (CBS SF) - Police in Alameda were looking for two men who robbed an elderly woman of her purse and the dog she was walking.

According to police, the unidentified 80-year-old woman was confronted by two men in a car in the area of Encinal Avenue and Fountain Street on Saturday around 2 p.m.

One of the men simulated a gun and demanded  the woman surrender her purse and her dog, a 6-year-old Yorkie named "Deuce."

When the woman refused, one suspect grabbed the dog and the other grabbed purse, according to police.

The suspects were described as African-American men in their late teens or early twenties, and fled from the scene in a faded blue or green colored 1980's Honda or Toyota sedan with a primer-colored left-front quarter panel.

The stolen Yorkie has an identifying micro-chip implant and police were asking the public's help in locating the stolen dog.

Anyone with information on the suspects or the whereabouts of "Deuce" were urged by authorities to contact the Alameda Police Department at (510) 337-8340.
