Death Threat Heard On 911 Call During Los Gatos Priest Beating
SAN JOSE (AP) - The California man accused of severely beating a Jesuit priest who allegedly molested him and his brother decades ago can be heard on a 911 call threatening to kill the elderly cleric.
The San Jose Mercury News obtained court documents Wednesday showing 44-year-old William Lynch allegedly threatening the Rev. Jerold Lindner with death during the May revenge attack at a Los Gatos retirement home for priests.
In 1998 the Catholic Church paid Lynch $625,000 to settle claims that Lindner sexually abused Lynch and his brother during weekend camping trips in 1975.
The death threat can be heard as a receptionist was talking to a 911 operator.
Lynch has been charged with felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury. He will be arraigned Nov. 12.
