‘Out: The Glenn Burke Story’ Debuts In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Glenn Burke was considered a five-tool baseball player, as he spent time with both the Oakland A’s and Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1970s.
But what makes his story interesting isn’t what happened on the field, but what happened off the field, as Burke is considered to be the first openly gay player in Major League Baseball.
KCBS Interviews Doug Harris:
Financed by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, “Out: The Glenn Burke Story” premieres Wednesday night at the Castro Theater in San Francisco.
Doug Harris, a Bay Area documentarian and the co-producer of the movie, said Burke could have been a phenomenal player if he was accepted.
