Proposed Southbay Pot Delivery Service Sparks Debate

REDWOOD CITY (CBS/AP) – A San Francisco man appears to be facing an uphill battle as he tries to get approval to open a medical marijuana delivery service in San Mateo County.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that James Sanabria is set to appear in front of the San Mateo County License Board Monday morning as he seeks approval for a delivery service he would call the MedWeedZoom collective.

The scheduled hearing comes after the sheriff's office recommended that Sanabria's application be denied.

In a report opposing the delivery service, sheriff's Sgt. Bryan Cassandro says that Sanabria has previous felony convictions, including possession of PCP for sale and possession of cocaine, as well as a 1993 robbery conviction.

Sanabria told the Mercury News that he is willing to let someone else can run the delivery service, if that means the service can open.
