Manhunt For Ex-Boyfriend After Fairfield Double-Murder

FAIRFIELD (CBS 5 / BCN) -- Police were asking the public to keep an eye out for a car driven by a man suspected of fatally shooting two people in Fairfield early Saturday morning.

A man and woman were killed in the shooting, which was reported at 1:15 a.m. at an apartment complex on Crowley Lane, and the woman's ex-boyfriend, Ricardo Martinez Deleon, 50, of Fairfield, was the suspected shooter, police said.

Deleon is believed to be traveling in a white 1999 Dodge van with a blue stripe on the side and a possible license plate of 8H03092. He should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who spots him should notify local police immediately.

The fatal incident began at about 6:15 p.m. Friday when police were called to an apartment complex on Crowley Lane on the report of a disturbance.

Arriving officers spoke to a crowd of people who said Deleon showed up and was arguing with his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot. Her family surrounded Deleon and convinced him to leave the area.

He had fled the area on foot before officers arrived, but a vehicle associated with him was found and towed off the property a short time later, police said.

The woman had a restraining order against Deleon but it had not been served, according to police.

Then early Saturday morning, police received several reports of the shooting and responded to find a male and female victim each suffering from a gunshot wound. They were both taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.

The victims' identities are not being released until their families are notified.

Investigators learned from witnesses and evidence at the scene that Deleon apparently returned to the area and waited for the woman and her new boyfriend to return home. As they were walking through the complex, they were both shot by Deleon, according to police.

Deleon was described as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red jacket with black sleeves and a 49ers logo on the back. He also occasionally wears reading glasses, police said.

Anyone with information about the location of Deleon, or who was a witness to the shooting, was asked by authorities to call Solano Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP.
