Former Park Ranger Heads East Bay Regional Park District
OAKLAND (CBS/BCN) – The East Bay Regional Park District’s Board of Directors announced this week the selection of the district’s new general manager.
Robert E. Doyle, a 35-year veteran of the district, will take over the position on Jan. 1, 2011, replacing retiring general manager Pat O’Brien, the board announced Tuesday.
Doyle, currently the assistant general manager for interagency and regional trail planning, land acquisition and environmental review, began his career as a park ranger, working in seven of the district’s parks.
He is a resident of Walnut Creek, and attended Diablo Valley College, San Francisco State University, and Saint Mary’s College.
The seven-member board of directors selected Doyle from several internal candidates and said he was chosen for his management experience.
“The Board and I feel very fortunate that Bob will bring his extensive experience both with the Park District and in legislative affairs to the job,” Doug Siden, president of the district’s board of directors, said in a statement.
