LONG BEACH (AP) — Casper Ware scored 16 points to lead four Long Beach State players in double figures as they defeated San Francisco State 82-65 Monday night.

Greg Plater added 14 points, Eugene Phelps had 13 points and seven rebounds, and Larry Anderson scored 10 for Long Beach (1-1).

Marquel Hoskins led the the lower-division Gators (0-1) with 16 points while Nefi Perdomo had 11.

Long Beach State trailed by five early before going on a 26-10 run for a 36-25 halftime lead. They pulled away in the second half and pushed their lead to as much as 22.

Long Beach shot 50 percent overall and from beyond the 3-point line (8 of 16). Plater had four 3s.

Ware hit 7 of 11 shots and finished with six assists, six steals and four rebounds.
