Smartphones Leave Trails From Location-Based Services

(KCBS) - With the explosion of iPhones, Androids and other smartphones leaving virtual trails wherever anyone is these days, users are leaving behind a vast digital footprint.

There are consequential privacy considerations at play and highly-sought personal information at risk.

To combat the increasing risks, the Northern California chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union has issued a guide outlining privacy considerations for mobile location-based services.

Nicole Ozer, the technology and civil liberties policy director at the ACLU of Northern California, said the organization believes outdated privacy laws allow third parties such as advertisers and the government easy access to your personal information.
