Man Sought In Attempted Robbery At Palo Alto 7-Eleven Store

PALO ALTO (BCN) -- Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery early Sunday morning at a 7-Eleven in Palo Alto.

The attempted robbery occurred around 4:30 a.m. at a 7-Eleven located at 708 Colorado Ave., according to police.

A man entered the business, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, police said. When the clerk offered him cash, the suspect grabbed a female customer and demanded money again. Again, the clerk offered him cash, but the suspect hesitated and then took off running, going east on Colorado Avenue, police said.

Officers arrived with a canine unit from the Mountain View Police Department to track the man but were unable to locate him.

Neither the clerk nor the customer was harmed, police said. Police believe the suspect fled the store without taking anything.

He was described as a black man in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt pulled up over his face and black jeans.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Palo Alto Police Department at (650) 329-2413. Anonymous tips may be sent to paloalto@tipnow.org.
