3 Arrested After Oakland Shooting, Gas Station Standoff

OAKLAND (BCN) - A police standoff at a gas station near Mills College in Oakland ended peacefully Thursday morning with three robbery suspects taken into custody, a police spokeswoman said.

The standoff began about 9 a.m. at Seminary Gas and Food, located at 6235 Seminary Ave., Oakland police Officer Holly Joshi said.

Officers spotted a car near Seminary and Sunnymere avenues that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a series of robberies in Oakland earlier Thursday morning, including one in the 2800 block of 19th Avenue at 8:35 a.m. in which someone was shot, Joshi said.

She did not have information on the victim's condition.

Police surrounded the store and eventually three suspects surrendered, Joshi said.

Police were working to identify the suspects, a male and two females,.

The gas station was cleared as of 10 a.m., Joshi said.
