Santa Clara Rallies Late To Defeat Rice

SANTA CLARA (AP) -- Kevin Foster made a 3-pointer with 17.8 seconds remaining to give Santa Clara its only lead Thursday night and the Broncos overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half to beat Rice 66-65.

Foster, who led Santa Clara in scoring through their first two games, had only five against Rice before scoring the final four points of the game. He also grabbed Tamir Jackson's missed layup with 4 seconds left to secure the win.

Robert Smith had 10 points to lead the Broncos (2-1), who lost to the Owls (2-1) in 2009.

Arsalan Kazemi recorded his third straight double-double with 17 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. Jackson added 15 points and five assists.
