Toddler Dies In Arena Fall After Warriors-Lakers Game

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A toddler is dead after falling 50-feet from the downtown Staples Center arena's luxury suites after the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors basketball game.

Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale says 2-year-old Lucas Anthony Tang of Garden Grove died at a hospital Sunday night. The official cause of death is awaiting further investigation.

KNX's John Brooks Reports:

The boy fell from the third level top tier of the Staples luxury suites several minutes after the Lakers beat the Warriors 117-89 on Sunday night.

It's unclear how the boy plunged over the low wall that fronts the box.

Officer Julie Sohn said the Los Angeles Police Department's child-abuse unit is investigating but only because of the victim's age.

Witnesses told the Los Angeles Times the boy was moving his arms, legs and head before paramedics took him out of Staples Center on a stretcher.
