Oakland Mayor-Elect Quan's Car Gets The Boot

OAKLAND (KCBS) - A car used by Oakland's mayor-elect got booted Tuesday.

Jean Quan's Toyota Prius was booted outside City Hall for failing to pay more than a thousand dollars in parking tickets.

KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier Comments:

Quan had parked the car in her official spot. Police said around 9:30 in the morning a technician ran a check on it and discovered that it had more than 10 outstanding tickets.

The car, which is registered to Quan's husband, was ordered to be immobilized with the boot.

Hours after a reporter contacted Quan's City Council office about the issue the boot was removed.

In a statement released by Quan's office Wednesday afternoon, the mayor-elect said she and her family were "extraordinarily busy" during the campaign. Quan said she paid the outstanding parking tickets immediately after she learned about them on Tuesday.
