Bay Area Shoppers Get Early Start

SAN MATEO (KCBS) _ Some shoppers couldn’t wait till Black Friday for all of those holiday shopping deals.

Several people were up early on Thanksgiving and headed to the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo.

Sears opened its doors at 7 a.m. for limited shopping until noon. Ginger Ma was first in line.

KCBS’ Margie Shafer Reports:

“I’m looking for a camcorder. I’ve been checking around and it’s about 35 percent off,” she said.

Mary English of Redwood City was pleased to find a bargain.

“We’re crazy people. Crazy for coming on Thanksgiving morning to go shopping for a refrigerator,” English said. “Our refrigerator busted and they have one on sale.”

Old Navy and some Starbucks also opened their doors for shoppers looking to gobble up the savings.
