5 Hurt, 2 Critically In San Francisco Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - Five people were injured, two critically, in a crash in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood early Tuesday morning, police said.

The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. when a car ran into a pole at Brazil Avenue and Munich Street, police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.

A 30-year-old man who was sitting in the backseat was thrown through the windshield and suffered life-threatening injuries, Dangerfield said.

The crash also critically injured a 31-year-old woman in the car, he said. The other three occupants, all men, suffered minor injuries.

All five were taken to a hospital.

Police are investigating whether the driver, a 31-year-old man, was under the influence of alcohol, Dangerfield said.
