BART Gives Out Free Tickets To Entice Holiday Shoppers

OAKLAND (AP) - Bay Area Rapid Transit gave away free tickets Thursday to encourage people to use the train system when shopping this holiday season.

BART officials said they would hand out two tickets each to 60,000 people between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Thursday. The tickets were to be distributed at six stations: Downtown Berkeley, 12th Street-Oakland City Center, Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell and Civic Center.

Each ticket is good for one-way travel between any two BART stations on the next three Saturdays and Sundays.

They will be returned after they are used, but will have no value and can be thrown away.
