Powerhouse Stanford Faces Upstart B.C. In Women's College Cup Semis

STANFORD (CBS / AP) -- Both semifinal games of the NCAA Women's College Cup feature an upstart against a traditional power.

No. 2 seed Boston College (17-6-1) plays against No. 1 seed Stanford (22-0-2), while No. 4 seed Notre Dame (19-2-2) faces No. 3 seed Ohio State (17-4-2) in Friday's semifinals.

The winners meet Sunday for the championship.

The Cardinal are riding a 21-game winning streak, and are back in the final four for the third consecutive season after losing to North Carolina 1-0 in last year's championship game.

The Fighting Irish are making their fifth straight and 12th overall appearance in the College Cup. The Buckeyes and Eagles, meanwhile, have made it this far for the first time in the history of their respective programs.
