Martinez Daycare Provider Found Guilty Of Molestation

MARTINEZ (BCN) — Jurors found a 56-year-old Martinez man guilty Thursday of molesting two young girls at an in-home daycare facility, Deputy District Attorney Paul Graves said.

James Jensen was convicted of 14 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 years old, Graves said. The victims were 8 and 10 years old when Jensen was arrested in December 2008.

He had been molesting one girl for three years and the other for two years, according to Graves.

Jensen faces a maximum of 210 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 25 in Contra Costa County Superior Court, Graves said.

Prosecutors said shortly after Jensen’s arrest that he and his wife had been caring for three children in their Martinez home.

His wife had a state-issued child care license, but she had gotten a new job and left her husband, who was not licensed, home to care for the children by himself.

Best rule of thumb regarding DAY CARE FACILITIES: if there is a man present, go elsewhere!!! This isn’t meant to be sexist, just reality. I have yet to meet a man who enjoys little kids as much as women do.

Good point Zack. If I ever see a grown man show interest in my kids, you better believe my antenna goes up. Yeah, maybe I’m too cautious, but better safe than sorry. It seems like not one week goes by in this county without some pervert being busted for doing something illegal with children. As far as I am concerned, anytime a perv is convicted just once of a sexual crime against a child, life without parole!
