Martinez Daycare Provider Found Guilty Of Molestation

MARTINEZ (BCN) -- Jurors found a 56-year-old Martinez man guilty Thursday of molesting two young girls at an in-home daycare facility, Deputy District Attorney Paul Graves said.

James Jensen was convicted of 14 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 years old, Graves said. The victims were 8 and 10 years old when Jensen was arrested in December 2008.

He had been molesting one girl for three years and the other for two years, according to Graves.

Jensen faces a maximum of 210 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 25 in Contra Costa County Superior Court, Graves said.

Prosecutors said shortly after Jensen's arrest that he and his wife had been caring for three children in their Martinez home.

His wife had a state-issued child care license, but she had gotten a new job and left her husband, who was not licensed, home to care for the children by himself.
