Outage Hits 6500 Homes In Half Moon Bay, Hollister

HALF MOON BAY (CBS/BCN) -- An outage knocked out power to thousands of PG&E customers in Half Moon Bay and Hollister Saturday evening, a PG&E spokesman said.

About 4,445 customers lost power in Half Moon Bay at about 7 p.m., spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

Crews are at the scene working to restore power, he said, and the number of impacted customers was reduced to about 4,000 at 8 p.m.

Guidi said he didn't know the cause of the outage and there was no estimated time when power would be restored.

Another 2,700 customers lost power in Hollister because of an equipment failure Saturday afternoon, Guidi said.

Rainstorms caused a cross arm -- which holds up the wires -- to break and wires to come down in Hollister at about 4 p.m., Guidi said.

Power has been restored to all but 160 customers, he said. The remaining customers should have power restored between 9 and 10 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
