Missing Woman's Body, Van Found In Russian River

JENNER (BCN) - A Southern California woman who went missing over the weekend was found dead inside her car in the Russian River in Sonoma County on Monday afternoon, authorities said Tuesday.

Phyllis Bin, 62, of Woodland Hills, was reported missing Sunday morning after she failed to return to her hotel in Santa Rosa on Saturday night, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

Bin had dined with friends at the Rivers End restaurant in Jenner, and said she would follow them in her minivan on the drive back from the coast at about 10 p.m. Saturday.

After driving about 2 miles south, where state Highway 1 intersects with state Highway 116 near the Russian River, Bin's vehicle was no longer visible.

Emergency crews searched the area Sunday and Monday, and found the van in the river at about 4 p.m. Monday. Bin's body was inside.
