Mill Valley Man Enters Plea In Marin City Murder Case

MARIN CITY (AP) -- A Mill Valley man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of another man on a pedestrian walkway under Highway 101 in Marin City.

20-year-old Daryl Kumar Mears entered the plea on Thursday. Authorities say Kumar Mears stabbed 22-year-old Larry Robertson 62 times on Dec. 15 on the pedestrian walkway.

Marin County Sheriff's deputies found Robertson bleeding on the ground after receiving a report of a fight on the walkway. Kumar Mears was arrested nearby after a chase.

Robertson was taken to Marin General Hospital, where he died the next day.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the attack.

Kumar Mears' attorney, Jon Rankin, said there are varying accounts of what happened.
