San Jose Youth Minister Charged With Child Molestation

SAN JOSE (BCN) - A San Jose youth minister was charged with child molestation Tuesday after he was arrested in Las Vegas last week, a police spokesman said.

Robert Klatt, 32, was charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a minor for allegedly victimizing two junior-high-age youths, police Sgt.  Ronnie Lopez said.

He was arrested on a San Jose police warrant and Tuesday was awaiting extradition to the Bay Area, Lopez said.

Klatt had frequent access to children as a volunteer youth minister for a church near Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road, Lopez said.

The name of the church is not being released because the alleged crimes were not committed there, he said.

Police are currently looking for possible witnesses and other potential victims, Lopez said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Latendresse of the San Jose Police Department's sexual assault unit at (408) 277-4102.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP or visit svcrimestopper.org.
