Standoff Ends Safely At South San Francisco Bank

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / BCN) -- South San Francisco police are searching for suspects wanted in connection with a robbery at a Bank of the West Friday, a police corporal said.

At around 10:25 a.m., police were called to the bank located at 2288 Westborough Blvd., police Cpl. Elena Brennan said.

Police were initially told that there were possibly two or three armed suspects inside the bank, and about six employees and two customers inside as well, Brennan said.

Upon arrival, officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside the bank, Brennan said.

The North-Central Regional SWAT team was deployed, entered the bank and found all of the employees and customers unharmed, and the suspects were nowhere to be found, Brennan said.

The suspects had not been located as of 2 p.m. Friday. Witnesses and victims were being interviewed, but investigators have not been able to confirm how many suspects were in the bank or their races and ages, Brennan said.
