Violent Night In San Jose Leaves At Least 2 Dead

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- Two men were shot and killed and a third suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting near a nightclub Saturday night in San Jose.

The shooting occurred at the Mexicali Club on 13th Street near Highway 101 around 8:30 pm.

San Jose Police Sergeant Ronnie Lopez said police continue to interview witnesses.

"There was some gunfire in there and it wasn't just one suspect shooting," he said. "So we're possibly looking at multiple suspects. We're unsure if it was some sort of a gun battle."

KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:

Two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez said they have very little information on the suspects.

Meanwhile, a jewelry store owner who was stabbed during a robbery in December, succumbed to his injuries this weekend.

Lopez said police are looking for a suspect in connection with the death of 56-year-old Salvador Pena, who owned a store on Alum Rock Avenue near 33rd Street.

In yet another case, San Jose police are looking for a 40-year-old man, who they say stabbed his wife in her home on Piercy Road in south San Jose on Saturday afternoon.

"She was transported to a local hospital, where she's expected to survive," Lopez said.

And police are still looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 15-year-old girl early Saturday morning at the corner of Camden and Bascom avenues, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries.
